What the free tier lets you do
Here is the free account as the help center describes it, with no extras added:
- Browse the public catalogue on Explore, with all the sorting and filters.
- Chat, at 1 coin per message sent.
- Not generate images or videos; that needs a plan.
- Not buy coin packs: the store only sells to active subscribers.
The help center does not state how many coins a brand new free account starts with, and we cannot fill that gap from our own account because we subscribed. If you sign up without paying, your balance shows on the Profile page; that number is your whole free allowance until you subscribe or win coins somewhere.
Browsing is the genuinely free part. Sorting by Popular or Newest and reading character pages costs nothing on any account, so it is a fair way to see whether the catalogue suits you. Our first-hour walkthrough shows which filters and pages to start with.
Why the free tier is a taste, not a plan
One coin a message sounds small until you count a normal session. A short roleplay easily runs to fifty or sixty back-and-forth lines. On a subscription those lines cost nothing on the default model; for comparison, our account sent 280 messages to 140 different characters on 20 October 2026 and the balance stayed exactly where it was.
Media is the other wall. OurDream leans heavily on visuals: character pages list how many images and videos exist, the Feed is a scroll of clips, and community packs sell entire galleries. Without a plan, those are blurred. The help center also says that if you stop paying later, everything you generated becomes blurred until you subscribe again.
So think of the free account as a showroom. You see the shop, you test a conversation or two, and you find out whether the writing style clicks. That is useful. It is not a way to use the product day to day. Can you get free coins?
The help center answers this twice, slightly differently. One article says OurDream does not offer free coins but often runs giveaways and competitions on its Discord. The community-written FAQ says referrals are the only way to receive free coins.
The referral offer on our Profile page read: give 1,000, get 1,000 when the friend subscribes, plus a 10,000 bonus at 10 referrals. Note the condition. Your friend has to subscribe for you to get anything, so it does not work as a free route for two people who both stay unpaid.

The free account is honest about being limited, and it is enough to judge the chat quality and the catalogue. The day you want pictures, video or long stories without counting messages, you need a plan.
